I personally have an S10+ and before it I had an S5. More importantly the microSD card offers a reliable local hardware backup which allows for no data loss in case the phone is terminally damaged and allows to move data in and out of the phone very quickly without having to connect the phone via a cable which is not always handy especially with the included one being only USB 2.0. Imagine a camera without an SD card slot, wouldn't that be funny? With nowadays phones being so focused on photography the lack of the microSD support makes no sense except for trying to maximise profits to sell the 1TB version which the few people who buy it would get it anyways no matter the microSD support or not.Īnd no, the microSD card does not slow down the phone's performance as some misinformed fanboys say to justify the change, and the cloud is not a solution: not everyone is willing to pay a subscription to have their personal photos on an external server and to be able to access them only if they have an internet connection. The S series has always been designed to pack everything Samsung had at that moment in time and to give the user the maximum flexibility in the way they use their device therefore to me the fact that even this year Samsung is still not implementing the microSD card slot anymore is a real bummer.
